Duke’s Homecoming 3/15/11

On Tuesday March 15th, 2011 Dr. Lineberger called about 10:00am and said they could have Duke ready to go in about 30 minutes if we’d like to come get him.  Wait wait wait wait at this time it hit me…..I was a little scared to get him home & have to be responsible for this delicate baby.  My husband had just went into work to get a few hours in and I was a little scared so I suggested we’d come get him at around 1:30 or 2:00.  That way they could keep an eye on him and Jason could get some work time in before taking off a few vacation days to help care for our new Tripawd.

We were there right at 1:30pm to get our baby.  Dr. Lineberger came out to talk us through & explain his medication schedule.  I had taken them a box of Laura Littles (the best candy shop ever) and he then went back to grab the Dukester.  I saw them walking down the hall with him from beyond the swinging doors……Duke was so happy to see us & us him.  They had a sling around his hips just for support but he was doing great.  He got right up in the car & off we went.  That was a much better drive with him than the drive we took on the way there.

He had a Fentanyl patch on his side as well as pain patches all along the surgery site & gauze over that area as well.

When we got home he hopped right up the two front steps and into the house.

Home is where the heart is Duke, home is where you’ll start to feel good again. Rest up my friend, you’ll be bounding around again before you know it.
